After online bus, flight and railway reservations, India has the pleasure to start the online booking service for Auto-Rickshaws. While this service is limited to Mumbai only, very soon the idea will spread across the country.
Rickshawale.com is providing the online booking facility for customers. Go to the website and put your mobile number, address with a landmark and desired pick up date-time. You can make a booking up to 24 hours in advance. After filling the form, a customer service associate will shortly contact you to finalize your booking.
Alternatively, you can dial 9664010101 or 02225747474 to make a booking. These are 24 hour customer support lines. On calling, you will talk to a customer service associates and give him your booking details. If successful, you would receive an SMS with the "Trip ID" and other details of the auto rickshaw that would pick you up at the time and place that you have specified.
Booking Charges
All rickshaws under Rickshawale group strictly follow the meter rules set by the government. So for hiring the rickshaw, the actual meter fare will be charged along with a convenience charge. The convenience charge is ₹ 20 per trip. However for senior citizens, disabled citizens and expecting mothers will enjoy a reduced convenience charge of ₹ 10 only.
Customer Experience
One of my friend shared his experience with me. He told me that initially the service was good but later on it goes bad. Drivers fail to reach at time and thus you can't rely on them in emergencies. At the time of my writing, I could see only eight drivers enlisted on the website. So it may be even tough for them to manage all bookings.
Future Plans
The Rickshawale says that they are in a process of integrating GPS to rickshaws for better security and faster service. They will try to bring the service in other cities also.
