After rolling out premium booking scheme, IRCTC is all set to accept the payment for bookings in EMI. Yes, but as of now you can avail this facility only if you are a Citi bank credit card holder.

The fare for premium trains is almost in comparison to Rajdhani like trains and is out of reach for a major group of people. In some cases the train fare is even more than air travel across the same route. This could be one possible scenario for which IRCTC has come up with new payment facility. The registered users can now pay for their ticket fares in monthly installments.

How to opt for EMI?

After you are done with filling the journey details, you will be redirected to the payment page as usual. There you need to select EMI radio button under payment mode.

After clicking on the radio button, a drop will be visible asking you to choose the bank. As of now, the only available option is Citi Bank. So go for that and fill up the card details in the provided area. Now click on "Make Payment" button.

Note that though interest rate would be 0%, you have to bear a transaction charge of 1.8% on the booking amount if paid via this method. So go for this only if you have some cash crush when booking for tickets.
